Kinetic study of the carbonation of epoxidized fatty acid methyl ester catalyzed over heterogeneous catalyst HBimCl‐NbCl <sub>5</sub> /HCMC

The carbonation of epoxidized vegetable oils is a crucial step in the preparation nonisocyanate polyurethane. Several research groups have screened homogeneous catalysts such as tetra-n-butylammonium bromide for this reaction, but devoted to use heterogeneous and on application kinetic modeling rare. Hence, develop process an industrial scale, appropriate catalyst should be found model developed. A consisting ionic liquid supported carboxymethyl cellulose has been proved suitable reaction. based 1-hydroxypropyl-3-n-butylimidazolium chloride niobium(V) protonated (HBimCl-NbCl5/HCMC) was synthesized tested fatty acid methyl ester. Effects particle size, agitation speed, loading, reaction temperature kinetics were investigated. proceeded efficiently at 443.15 K, speed 500 rpm, using native particles with median diameter 652 μm. developed simulate conversion epoxide group time.
